About FunnyTees.ca

A small operation with big feelings and access to a good printer.

The Origin Story Nobody Asked For

It started the way most good ideas start: at 11pm, slightly caffeinated, staring at a blank wall and wondering if this is it. This being life, specifically.

Philippe had a printer. Philippe had opinions. Philippe had a deep and abiding belief that Canadians deserved better t-shirts โ€” shirts that said what we were all thinking but were too polite to actually say out loud.

The first design was a shirt that said "I'm Fine" in the font used on highway road signs. It sold out in 48 hours. Mostly to people in Ontario, which tracks.

Since then, we've expanded to eight categories of funny Canadian t-shirts covering the full spectrum of the Canadian emotional experience โ€” from Canadian life and dad jokes to existential dread and work frustration.

Our Mission

To make shirts so funny that at least one family member will ask you to "please not wear that to dinner." We consider that a success metric.

Every shirt is printed by Philippe, personally, in Canada. Not in a warehouse overseas. Not by a robot (except Brenda, who we consider a colleague). By one human who genuinely cares about the shirt arriving looking great and making you laugh. And if something goes wrong, returns are easy.

The Team

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ผ

Philippe Arsenault

Founder, Head Printer, Chief Vibe Officer

Philippe started FunnyTees.ca in 2023 after realizing that corporate life was slowly stealing his will to live but at least he had a decent printer at home. He does everything. The printing, the shipping, the existential dread.

๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ

Brenda (The Printer)

Production Manager, Ink Specialist

Philippe named the printer Brenda. Brenda has opinions. She jams when she doesn't like the design. She's been right every time. We respect Brenda.

๐Ÿชฟ

Dave the Goose

Brand Ambassador, Threat Assessment

Dave is a Canada Goose who lives near the warehouse. He doesn't work here officially but he has opinions about delivery schedules and will chase you if you're late.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ผ

Marguerite (Philippe's Mom)

Quality Assurance, Unsolicited Feedback

Marguerite doesn't officially work here but she evaluates every shirt and lets Philippe know when something 'isn't quite right.' She hasn't been wrong yet.

What We Actually Believe

  • โœ“Laughter is the second-best coping mechanism (the first is poutine)
  • โœ“Quality matters. A funny shirt on cheap fabric is just a sad fabric.
  • โœ“Shipping should be fast. Philippe tries his best. Canada Post has its own timeline.
  • โœ“You should be able to return stuff without writing a 3-paragraph essay.
  • โœ“Being Canadian doesn't mean being boring. It means being funny about being cold.
